89 points Wine Spectator
I [JS] have had this wine numerous times. Bottles vary from outstanding to disappointing. At its best, it is medium ruby-red, with a ripe fruit and tobacco nose, sweet, fresh plum flavors, a round mouth-feel and a silky finish. (Web-1989)
K&L Notes
A fantastic value on an absolutely delicious Port. Rated 2-4 stars by Michael Broadbent: "Medium, maturing' fairly sweet middle-weight, a bit lean but soft and smooth, stylish and appealing. We think it is a lovely little brother to the fabulous but outrageously expensive Noval National!" Robert Parker writes: "The beautiful Quinta do Noval is undoubtedly the most famous port producer, largely because their 1931 and 1927 were to vintage port what the 1947 Cheval Blanc and 1945 Mouton-Rothschild were to the Bordeaux trade - divine, monumental wines of extraordinary depth of flavor."
