"Dried plums, black tea, dried fig, spicy and orange aromas lead a rich, warm, full, somewhat tannic and tight palate with good sweetness, but not cloying. A warm palate with, with espresso, black liquorice, spicy, black tea, fig, blackberry, prune and menthol flavours. Impressive with lots of intensity and a warm finish, needs another 5 to 7 years to fully mature."

"A strong candidate for Port of the vintage. Fonseca's 2001 Quinta do Panascal boasts a nose filled with rich dense, brooding fruit. Blackberries and plums rush the palate; it's lush and fruity, yet given on the finish."
